Cleaning
Wool challis pocket squares should not be washed immersed in water as doing so can ruin the texture and color of the fabric. Instead, spot clean your pocket square using the following steps.
Gently blot any excess substance from the stain with a soft, dry cloth. Do not rub as this can damage the fabric.
Fill a small bowl with lukewarm water and add a few drops of mild detergent specifically designed for wool, such as Woolite.
Dip a corner of a clean, white cloth into the solution and test it on a hidden area of the pocket square to ensure it doesn't cause discoloration.
If the test is successful, lightly dab the stained area with the dampened cloth. Use a gentle tapping motion and do not saturate the fabric.
Moisten another clean cloth with plain lukewarm water and gently dab the area to remove any soap residue. Pat the cleaned area with a dry cloth to absorb moisture, then leave the pocket square laid flat on a towel to air dry completely.
If the stain does not respond to the these steps, take the pocket square to a professional dry cleaner experienced in handling delicate accessories.
Storage
Generally, wool should resist wrinkling if you take care to remove your pocket square after use and store it, loosely folded, flat.
If your wool pocket square should become wrinkled, iron it with the printed side facing down and the reverse covered by a cotton or linen cloth. Iron on medium to low heat with steam, or lightly sprinkle the surface with water.
Be sure to only iron the center of the pocket square and do not run your iron over the edges, as it could ruin the effect of the hand-rolled edges by flattening them.
