Fits well, easy to tie, and looks damn good. I wore it to an office dinner, and got an amazing amount of compliments, from everyone. You have to take it in stride and just respond with a simple "thank you" and move on. I didn't dwell, but the compliments kep coming.

Product Info

Sensationally Soft Wool Challis

First popularized in the 19th century, the fine hand and muted colors of wool challis has made it a hit with stylish gentlemen ever since! The term challis is derived from the Anglo-Indian word "Shalee", which means soft. When this soft fabric was first introduced in Norwich, England in 1832, it was an immediate hit and quickly became a preferred fabric of the upper classes.

Today, wool challis is worn with both warm and cool weather ensembles and is a great alternative to madder silk or jacquard. Bright and bold colors add pop to casual outfits, while more sedate colors and patterns are perfectly acceptable as part of more formal business wear.

Wool Challis Polka Dot in Burgundy Red and Yellow Bow Tie - Fort Belvedere

Bright Orange and Green Will Have You Smiling!

Fun and whimsical, polka dots can nevertheless be formal as well when the time is right and the correct colors are in play. We wanted to afford you the greatest latitude for styling when designing this bow tie, so we opted for a very formal shade of orange paired with green dots. The result is a bow tie that can be worn up or down the Formality Scale based on the other colors with which it is paired.

For a vibrant and energetic look, combine orange with complementary colors like blue or green. For a more subdued and sophisticated appearance, pair orange with neutral tones such as white, beige, or gray. Additionally, orange and brown create a warm and earthy combination.

Pair this bow tie with a crisp white dress shirt and a navy or charcoal gray suit for a striking contrast that remains elegant and sophisticated. The green polka dots add a playful touch, making the tie suitable for both formal and semi-formal occasions.

For a more casual yet polished look, consider combining the tie with a light blue or pale green shirt and a beige or brown blazer. This combination creates a harmonious and visually appealing outfit that stands out without being too loud.

Care

Cleaning

Wool challis neckwear should not be washed immersed in water as doing so can ruin the texture and color of the fabric. Instead, spot clean your neckwear using the following steps.

Gently blot any excess substance from the stain with a soft, dry cloth. Do not rub as this can damage the fabric.

Fill a small bowl with lukewarm water and add a few drops of mild detergent specifically designed for wool, such as Woolite.

Dip a corner of a clean, white cloth into the solution and test it on a hidden area of the neckwear to ensure it doesn't cause discoloration.

If the test is successful, lightly dab the stained area with the dampened cloth. Use a gentle tapping motion and do not saturate the fabric.

Moisten another clean cloth with plain lukewarm water and gently dab the area to remove any soap residue. Pat the cleaned area with a dry cloth to absorb moisture, then leave the neckwear laid flat on a towel to air dry completely.

If the stain does not respond to the these steps, take the neckwear to a professional dry cleaner experienced in handling delicate accessories.

Storage

To prevent heavy creasing, never store your neckwear tied or knotted.

Undo the knot and then roll the necktie up in a firm but not excessively tight coil.

Allow it to sit in the coil for about a day to relax wrinkles.

To prevent wrinkles, store your neckwear hanging, flat, or in a very loose roll.

Simple Adjustable Sizing

Your bow tie has an adjustable neck size, meaning that it can be altered to accommodate your desired fit and comfort.

Parlay the Power of Polka Dots

olka dots have been a mainstay of Classic Menswear since their introduction in the 19th century. Combining whimsy with wonder and daring with dignity, few patterns offer so many opportunities for unique color pairings in an unexpected way.

The beauty of polka dots is how they lend themselves easily to various two and three-color combinations. While white spots help to bring the white of a shirt forward, dots in other colors can help to bridge the various elements of your outfit in creative ways. For example, you could leverage the dots on a tie or pocket square to bring in a harder-to-wear color like yellow.

  • Decadent Wool Challis Fabric

Sourced from a heritage mill in England, this accessory is made from 100% wool challis. First popularized in the early 19th century, wool challis is a type of fabric that, despite being woven, has a soft and smooth texture. Its colors tend to be rich yet subdued, as opposed to vivid hues. While it is crafted from wool, challis distinguishes itself from the denser, heavier types of woolen textiles with its extremely plush and gentle hand.

  • Hand-Printed Wool Challis

Traditionally, wool challis fabric was hand-block printed, a labor-intensive process that is not economically feasible today. Instead, modern wool challis fabrics are screen printed. To capture the best of the old and the new methods, Fort Belvedere accessories are screen printed by hand, lending the production process an Old-World charm.

  • Dynamic Polka Dot Pattern

Polka dots have endured as a common pattern in Classic Menswear for centuries because they add a touch of personality and style without being overwhelming. The consistent, evenly spaced dots provide a subtle yet sophisticated visual interest that can easily be paired with other pieces in a man's wardrobe.

  • Handmade

Fort Belvedere ties are entirely sewn by hand, which gives them improved flexibility and designs that are functional as well as beautiful. This careful oversight allows us to offer exceptional products typified by the standards of Old World construction.

  • Classic Pointed Ends

One of the most classic shapes, this bow tie features the pointed ends that were typical for both social and business occasions during the Golden Age of Menswear.

  • Perfect Bow Tie Size

When tied, this bow tie has classically proportioned dimensions of approx. 4" by 2" or 10 cm by 5 cm.

  • Adjustable Sizing

Our sliding neck-size adjuster was designed to be
simple and easy to use, so you can achieve a custom fit to your exact
size with ease. When you are in a rush, you can even unhook the adjuster
clasp and leave the knot tied for convenience, although, for regular
wear, we do recommend untying the knot to avoid wrinkles and premature
    wear, and aging.
