This was my first purchase from Fort Belvedere, I will be buy again! I did not own any pocket squares and wanted something of quality and unique character. I am just starting to dress well and have been searching for trustworthy products from a trustworthy name. This certainly fits the bill! You can see the craftsmanship and attention to detail in the print, stitching, and even size. The color on mine did range towards yellow, but that possibility was advertised upfront in the product description. The customer service was phenomenal and--even though the price is higher than I'm used to--it's great value for money because no detail was spared and no concern went unaddressed in the product description. They shipped it quickly and notified me at each point in delivery, so I knew where it was and when to expect it. I have worn it on two occasions now (I bought it last week), both times getting compliments on how it ties my outfit together in a sophisticated and creative manner. How to Style this Pocket Square

This pocket square features on its body a colorful zoological hunting motif and plain edge with high contrast shoestring border. As such, it can effectively be styled in three different ways depending on your chosen pocket square fold.

A fold that emphasizes the border of the pocket square, like a banker's fold, will present the simple body color and high-contrast edge detailing for an understated appearance. A fold that highlights the body of the pocket square, such as a puff fold, puts the unique hunting motif on full display. Finally, a fold that incorporates both elements of the pocket square, like the Upside-Down Puff, showcases both elements for a very dapper look.

This silk-wool blend pocket square has been decorated with a historic hunting scene, depicting rabbits, deer, and stags with stylized green and red vegetation on an ivory field. The tones in this pocket square are somewhat muted, and as such are well-suited to transitional seasons but can be worn year-round. You can also easily dress this pocket square up or down as the formality of the occasion demands. 

The ivory body of this pocket square is extremely versatile and can be worn with jackets of any color, from charcoal, navy, and dark brown to olive, taupe, and cream. If wearing an off-white jacket, simply ensure that there is sufficient contrast to avoid appearing muddy.

The Perfect Blend of Silk and Wool

This pocket square is made from a blend of silk and wool, combining the color intensity and subtle shine of the former with the durability and structure of the latter. The result is a pocket square with an impeccable appearance that can be easily paired with many other fabrics.

It should be noted that printed silk-wool pocket squares are not as commonly found as silk pocket squares because it is difficult to create the perfect blend for the chest pocket. While most pocket squares are now printed in China on inkjet printers, Fort Belvedere silk-wool pocket squares are screen-printed by hand in England before being meticulously hand rolled.

Less shiny than pure silk examples, silk-wool pocket squares have a beautiful hand and drape to them that makes them especially compatible with casual sport coat combinations, as well as all kinds of tweed and country wear. However, you can also combine them with business suits in gray or blue for an understated, sophisticated look.

Unlike pure silk, linen, or cotton, this silk-wool blend is very springy, allowing it to easily retain its shape while resisting wrinkles. If you decide to switch from a puff fold to a crown fold, you will not need to worry about this pocket square acquiring unsightly wrinkles.

Storage

Although popularly considered a delicate material, silk and silk-wool blends are a very strong fiber that resists wrinkling. However, if left folded up for hours or days, creasing and wrinkles will eventually set in.

To prevent creasing and wrinkling, remove your pocket square when undressing and fold it into a square before storing it in a cool, dark area, like a drawer or cabinet, to protect it from sunlight and dust.

Pressing

If heavily crumpled, you should first attempt to use a garment steamer on a low setting to relax the wrinkles.

If the wrinkles persist, place a cotton cloth on top of your pocket square and then iron on top of it around the center, using the delicate setting.

Do not run the iron over the edges of the pocket square as this will damage the hand-rolled edges.

Cleaning

If your pocket square should become stained or dirty, do not wash it by immersing it in water. Instead, create a solution of tepid water and mild detergent and spot clean the pocket square with a clean cloth as needed.

If the stain persists, take your pocket square to a reputable dry cleaner that specializes in the handling of delicate fabrics.

What makes this silk-wool pocket square with hunting motif so special?

Pocket squares are one of the easiest and quickest ways to improve the overall look of your outfit, but it all depends on the elegance, timelessness, and versatility of the pocket square: not all are created equal!

While most pocket squares are made from cheap synthetics in simple colors or garish designs, Fort Belvedere sourced the fabric for this design from a heritage English mill and decorated it with a timeless hunting scene reminiscent of the tapestries that once decorated the halls of stately country homes and chateaux.

While other pocket squares have their hems finished by machines, all of our pocket squares are meticulously hand-rolled, with the printing done entirely by hand.

Most significantly, nearly all other pocket squares are too small because they are simply cut to get the biggest yield from the piece of fabric it is made off. At Fort Belvedere we determine the size of each square by the specific fabric used so you end up with the perfectly sized pocket square that will neither disappear in your chest pocket nor create any bulk.

A pocket square cannot improve your look if it vanishes into your pocket or spoils the lines of your jacket, after all!

  • Ideal Proportions for a Silk-Wool Blend Pocket Square

    Most pocket squares are sized to get the largest number of pocket squares per yard of fabric. By not considering the unique qualities of the material as related to weight and weave, however, these accessories cannot function well as pocket squares.

    Most silk-wool pocket squares are a minuscule 30 cm x 30 cm, or 12" x 12,” a size selected only to save money. This size is simply too small, allowing the pocket square to fall in on itself and disappear into your pocket over the course of the day. By paying special attention to the unique qualities of our silk-wool, we were able to engineer a pocket square that functions perfectly. After extensive testing, we concluded that 42 cm x 42 cm or 16.5" x" 16.5" was the perfect size for our silk-wool pocket squares.
