Ever since i decided to upgrade my tie collection I looked I purchased several quality handmade ties. I decided to give the Gentleman’s Gazzette Shop a try since I listened to style tips for several years. As expected the quality was nothing but superb! I plunged right in a purchased 3 ties on my very 1st order and each tie is truly exquisite. Quality is as good as it gets. I have several Ancient Madder ties and this one is truly a work of art. One of the things that is exceptional about the Gentleman’s Gazzette is that they offer an excellent discount when you purchase multiple ties from them. Great selection with many choices to choose from. I am sure I will be coming back to shop!

The Excellence of Silk

Silk ties have been gracing the necks of menswear connoisseurs for centuries, and it isn’t difficult to make a great impression when your neckwear radiates pure class and elegance with the rich yet subtle colors typical of quality dyes.

Favored as a neckwear material for centuries, silk is famed for its plush, decadent colors and unique, tactile hand. Quality heritage-grade silk is increasingly difficult to find nowadays, but Fort Belvedere was able to secure a supply from a heritage silk mill operating in England.

Regal and Refined

The Vintage Vibes of Mauve

Raphael discovered this particular pattern on a vintage tie in an old shop and he loved it so much that he was inspired to create something similar for our Fort Belvedere collection. Consisting of an array of cut-corner tiles in cool purples and blues, the decadent mauve body of this tie is typical of the jewel-tone adjacent hues favored during the Golden Age of Menswear.

Set the Mood for Day or Night

Along with burgundy, mauve is an iconic color in the realm of informal evening attire. This tie is therefore admirably suited to wearing with ensembles typical of the Black Tie Optional, Semi-Formal, and Cocktail Attire dress codes. Add a white shirt, dark suit, and black shoes, and you’re ready for any cocktail party, business dinner, or evening wedding reception.

But this color and pattern are sufficiently versatile for daytime as well! A dark suit will tone down the more vibrant purple elements, and thanks to the sedate blue elements, this tie is no stranger to the boardroom or office. Pair it was a brighter suit in light brown, tan, or ivory, however, and its mauve will pop, providing suitable decoration for any dandy.

Considerations for the Collar

This knot has sufficient visual and physical weight to pair well with any variety of shirt. With a narrower collar, the bold color and unique pattern keep all eyes on the slightly-obscured knot. With wider collars, the interplay of the tie’s body and pattern prevent the eye of the viewer from becoming overwhelmed.

For Your Tie Knot

Although this tie will look marvelous with any tie knot you may select, we have found that knots that produce a medium or large knot look exceptionally well with the pattern, as it prevents the tiles from appearing cut-off or awkward. Therefore, a full windsor or a half-windsor knot would both be ideal options.

The Finest Silk in the World

Sourcing Superior Silk Fabric

Silk has long been heralded as a superior material choice when it comes to neckwear. Its silky texture encourages clean lines, it takes dyes with minimal bleeding, and its tight weave ensures a refined and classic drape. As with any luxury product, however, a products origins are everything.

That is why we source our silk fabrics from only the finest heritage houses in Europe, primarily in England and Italy. The craftsmen of these nations have developed a reputation for silk production that goes back millennia, and to this day, we insist up working with only the finest artisans in this field.

Impeccable Workmanship

When it came to crafting this exceptional fabric into neckwear, however, we made a fascinating discovery: when comparing products made by artisans across the world, it was in a tucked-away workshop in Vietnam that we found the most precise stitching, the most extensive handiwork, and the best overall product.

We believe that results should speak for themselves, which is how this little facility won out on our contract over factories in England, Italy, and even Germany.

Sized To Fit You

Almost all retailers sell their ties as one-size-fits-all. A handful offer neckties that are either longer or shorter. At Fort Belvedere, we cater to the needs of every man, whether of modest, average, or above-average height, which is why we are proud to offer neckties in three distinct sizes.

The dimensions of our neckties are proportional to your height.

SHORT: For those who are 5’8” or 173 cm or shorter.

REGULAR: For those between 5'9" or 175 cm and 6'2" or 188 cm.

LONG: For those who are 6’3” or 190 cm or taller.

If you prefer to wear trousers with a higher rise and are in-between sizes, it may be better to size down so that the necktie does not fall below your waistband when tied.

Available Self-Tipped or Untipped

Based on size, some of our ties are Self-Tipped or Untipped.

Self-tipped ties have a lining as part of their tips. The overwhelming majority of tie makers use a less expensive fabric for the tip in a bid to save money, but doing so compromises on the look and the functionality of the tie. All self-tipped Fort Belvedere ties feature a generous piece of lining in the same fabric as the tie’s body for a consistent, quality-made look and feel that is in keeping with traditional self-tipped tie construction.

Fort Belvedere also offers untipped ties in which the tips are carefully hand-rolled for a beautiful look and secure finish that requires more skill to achieve than a self-tipped tie. Because they have less fabric, untipped ties are also lighter. Untipped ties were very popular in the 1930s, and as a tribute to the styling conventions of that era, Fort Belvedere untipped ties have a vintage flared end.

Cleaning

A silk tie should not be washed as immersion in water as doing so can ruin the texture and color of the silk. Instead, spot clean your tie using the following steps.

Gently blot any excess substance from the stain with a soft, dry cloth. Do not rub as this can damage the fabric.

Fill a small bowl with lukewarm water and add a few drops of mild detergent specifically designed for silk.

Dip a corner of a clean, white cloth into the solution and test it on a hidden area of the tie to ensure it doesn't cause discoloration.

If the test is successful, lightly dab the stained area with the dampened cloth. Use a gentle tapping motion and do not saturate the silk.

Moisten another clean cloth with plain lukewarm water and gently dab the area to remove any soap residue.

Pat the cleaned area with a dry cloth to absorb moisture, then leave the tie laid flat on a towel to air dry completely.

If the stain does not respond to the these steps, take the tie to a professional dry cleaner experienced in handling silk garments.

Storage

To prevent heavy creasing, never store your neckwear tied or knotted.

Undo the knot and then roll the necktie up in a firm but not excessively tight coil. Allow it to sit in the coil for about a day to relax wrinkles.

To prevent wrinkles, store your silk tie hanging or in a very loose roll.

  • The Highest Quality Silk

Silk is a top choice for neckwear due to its smooth texture, vibrant dye absorption, and refined drape. While we source our silk from renowned heritage houses in England and Italy, known for their centuries-old craftsmanship, our search for the best neckwear led us to a workshop in Vietnam. There, we discovered unmatched precision in stitching and craftsmanship, surpassing even the renowned factories in England, Italy, and Germany. This Vietnamese facility's superior results earned them our contract, proving that quality speaks for itself.

  • Timeless Fancy Tile Design

With roots in the Art Deco style, the fancy tiles employed in this neckwear's pattern are typical of the Golden Age of Menswear. Their geometric form provides visual structure to the accessory, and the additional decorative elements introduce more colorways so it is easier for you to harmonize it with other elements in your ensemble.

  • Unique Chalky Feel

In addition to its rich and deep colors, real madder is also typified by its distinctive, chalky feel. Extremely pleasing to the touch, this unique texture and the elegant drape it imparts are achieved by restoring to the silk fabric the natural gum that was stripped away during the production process. The result is one-of-a-kind silk that feels as good as it looks.

  • Handmade

Fort Belvedere ties are entirely sewn by hand, which gives them improved flexibility and designs that are functional as well as beautiful. This careful oversight allows us to offer exceptional products typified by the standards of Old World construction.

  • 3-Fold Construction

Many ties are made with an unlined 6- or 7-fold construction that is soft and flimsy, causing lank, unappealing knots and a wrinkled tie. Fort Belvedere neckties are 3-fold constructed with a simple wool interlining, improving the overall structure and drape of the tie while allowing for fantastic knots. The discerning eye may notice the lining visible through the open pores, creating the impression of a solid tie with a sophisticated twist that will impress genuine clothing aficionados.

  • Signature 3-Ply Silk Yarn

Fort Belvedere uses sturdy 3-ply silk yarn in the hand sewing of our neckties, which gives the neckties improved wear and longevity. The thickness of the yarn makes the entire product more durable but thanks to the lightness of the material, no bulk is added.
