I was skeptical when purchasing the tie because wool ties from my past experience are generally too thick to be made into proper knots. This FB one, however, surprised me: not only the thickness is appropriate for most knots (dimple included), the colour scheme and texture made it office friendly when paired with simpler suit or blazer combination. Highly recommended for any men looking for a wool tie to add to their collection. Definitely worth the price.

Product Info

Decadently Blended Cashmere and Wool Woven into Resplendent Grenadine

Crafted by an exclusive Italian artisanal mill, this prestige fabric made from the perfect blend of cashmere and wool offers a luxurious combination of warmth, softness, and durability.

The wool provides a robust structure and resilience, ensuring the garment retains its shape and withstands wear over time.

Cashmere, known for its ultra-soft texture and insulating properties, adds a touch of opulence and comfort. Together, they create a fabric that is both practical for colder climates and indulgent to the touch.

Additionally, the expertise of Italian artisans guarantees meticulous attention to detail and high-quality craftsmanship, resulting in a premium product with a timeless appeal.

Authentic grenadine material necessitates the use of uniquely hand-twisted yarns and specific machinery capable of producing a gauze weave akin to that from a jacquard loom. Presently, only a select few mills possess the expertise and facilities necessary to craft this fabric.

We are delighted to have located one such mill in Italy, enabling us to offer grenadine of heirloom quality that surpasses the rarity and value of other printed or jacquard silks.

Cashmere Wool Grenadine Tie in Dark Blue, Light Blue, Off White Stripe - Fort Belvedere

Look Cool While Staying Warm

Cool tones are some of the most elegant to style during the colder months, as they have a stately and refined appearance typical of plush, luxurious coziness. The purple, petrol blue, and light gray of this necktie was specifically selected to provide countless style opportunities.

In doing so, you're embracing a palette that is both classic and striking. The key is to let the tie be the centerpiece of your ensemble by coordinating it with pieces that complement without competing for attention.

Start with a crisp white or light blue dress shirt; this is the canvas that allows your tie to truly pop. The simplicity of the base color will make the colors in the tie more vibrant.

A gray suit would create a harmonious balance with the light grey in the tie and provides a sophisticated backdrop for the purple and petrol blue stripes. Naturally, a blue suit would do the same with the blue or purple elements.

Incorporate a pocket square that echoes one of the colors in the tie without exactly matching it. A light grey pocket square can subtly connect with the light grey stripe in the tie, or choose a petrol blue one for a slightly bolder statement. Remember, the fold should be clean and not distract from the tie.

The goal is to create a balanced look where each piece complements the others. Your tie should be the focal point in most cases, so resist the temptation to introduce other bold patterns or colors that could clash or detract from its impact. Embrace the confidence that comes with wearing such a distinctive tie, and carry yourself knowing that you've crafted an ensemble that speaks volumes about your impeccable sense of style.

Sized To Fit You

Almost all retailers sell their ties as one-size-fits-all. A handful offer neckties that are either longer or shorter. At Fort Belvedere, we cater to the needs of every man, whether of modest, average, or above-average height, which is why we are proud to offer neckties in three distinct sizes.

The dimensions of our neckties are proportional to your height.

SHORT: For those who are 5’8” or 173 cm or shorter.

REGULAR: For those between 5'9" or 175 cm and 6'2" or 188 cm.

LONG: For those who are 6’3” or 190 cm or taller.

If you prefer to wear trousers with a higher rise and are in-between sizes, it may be better to size down so that the necktie does not fall below your waistband when tied.

Available Self-Tipped or Untipped

Based on size, some of our ties are Self-Tipped or Untipped.

Self-tipped ties have a lining as part of their tips. The overwhelming majority of tie makers use a less expensive fabric for the tip in a bid to save money, but doing so compromises on the look and the functionality of the tie. All self-tipped Fort Belvedere ties feature a generous piece of lining in the same fabric as the tie’s body for a consistent, quality-made look and feel that is in keeping with traditional self-tipped tie construction.

Fort Belvedere also offers untipped ties in which the tips are carefully hand-rolled for a beautiful look and secure finish that requires more skill to achieve than a self-tipped tie. Because they have less fabric, untipped ties are also lighter. Untipped ties were very popular in the 1930s, and as a tribute to the styling conventions of that era, Fort Belvedere untipped ties have a vintage flared end.

Care

Cleaning

Do not wash your wool-cashmere neckwear by submerging it in water, as doing so could damage the body of the accessory. Instead, when necessary, spot clean the item using the following steps.

Fill a basin with lukewarm water and add a small amount of gentle, wool-safe detergent.

Dab a clean towel into the solution and blot it gently against the stain on the neckwear until it is removed.

Dab the area dry with a dry, clean section of the towel.

Allow the accessory to air dry.

If the stain persists, take your neckwear to be cleaned at a reputable dry cleaner.

Storage

If you wear your wool-cashmere neckwear regularly, you can store it hanging loosely on a tie rack.

If, however, you do not intend to wear your neckwear for an extended period, store it flat or loosely folded to prevent the fabric from stretching.

Store your neckwear in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight or harsh lighting to prevent fading.

Consider using breathable garment bags or a storage box with cedar balls to deter moths.

A New Twist on Grenadine

The grenadine weave is famous for its ability to make even solid colors appear more vibrant and nuanced thanks to its unique texture. Rather than limit this versatile weave to silk alone, we decided to try it with a blend of wool and cashmere for a unique visual effect with a soft touch that is perfect for the colder fall and winter months

Details & Specs

Cashmere Wool Grenadine Tie in Dark Blue, Light Blue, Off White Stripe - Fort Belvedere
  • Perfect Blend of Cashmere and Wool

The yarn for this tie is a blend of cashmere and merino wool that is intended to be wonderfully soft but also structured. Black silk has also been used to emphasize the typical look and feel of grenadine. Woven on very old, slow looms, this fabric is expensive to make but it possesses a remarkable depth of color.

  • An Unexpected Take on Grenadine

Exclusively woven for Fort Belvedere by a heritage Italian mill, this wool-cashmere grenadine is very different from traditional silk grenadine. It has an exceptionally soft finish and a beautiful combination of mottled colors that is unlike any other fabric in menswear.

  • Classic Diagonal Stripe Pattern

In the realm of Classic Menswear, striped ties have typically been linked to associations such as clubs or educational institutions, often featuring Repp stripes. The multiple colorways of our diagonal striped ties add to their versatility, allowing them to seamlessly complement both traditional business wear and more relaxed ensembles.

  • Unique Grenadine Weave

The most well-known grenadine patterns are Garza fina and Garza grossa. Garza fina has a fine, porous weave that looks similar to that of knit ties, while Garza grossa has a flexible, more open weave with increased texture and threads that pull more easily. Fort Belvedere ties are specially woven in Italy to exacting standards that produce an exceptional texture and feel while minimizing the likelihood of potential pulled threads.

  • Old-World Loom Italian Grenadine

Genuine grenadine fabric requires special hand-twisted yarns and machines that create an open gauze weave similar to a jacquard loom. Only a handful of mills today have the experience and resources required to make it, but we found such a mill in Italy and are proud to source heirloom-quality grenadine that is far more rare and valuable than other printed or jacquard silk fabrics.

  • Available Tipped or Untipped

  • Perfectly Sized Ties

On formal occasions, every detail must be exactly correct, and this applies as well to the length of your neckwear. This necktie is available in three different sizes so that you can pick the necktie that is perfectly proportioned to you.

  • Signature 3-Ply Silk Yarn

Fort Belvedere uses sturdy 3-ply silk yarn in the hand sewing of our neckties, which gives the neckties improved wear and longevity. The thickness of the yarn makes the entire product more durable but thanks to the lightness of the material, no bulk is added.

  • Handmade

Fort Belvedere ties are entirely sewn by hand, which gives them improved flexibility and designs that are functional as well as beautiful. This careful oversight allows us to offer exceptional products typified by the standards of Old World construction.

  • 3-Fold Construction

Many ties are made with an unlined 6- or 7-fold construction that is soft and flimsy, causing lank, unappealing knots and a wrinkled tie. Fort Belvedere neckties are 3-fold constructed with a simple wool interlining, improving the overall structure and drape of the tie while allowing for fantastic knots. The discerning eye may notice the lining visible through the open pores, creating the impression of a solid tie with a sophisticated twist that will impress genuine clothing aficionados.
