For instance, we originally considered lamb suede, but we found that it was too soft and wore down very quickly. The bullhide suede also exhibited a natural grippiness that was ideal for holding watches in place.

Simply because it is too expensive and those manufacturers are content to take the easy, and cheaper, way out. We, however, knew that our clients expect only the best from Fort Belvedere and so we spared no expense, opting for superior natural suede over synthetic alternatives like Alcantara.

Whenever possible, we prefer for our leather goods to have folded edges for the extra durability they impart. In order to affix our suede interior to the case, however, we had to forego that construction for this accessory. Instead, we instructed our skilled European craftsmen to carefully paint every edge to seal them against fraying that compromises the case’s longevity. This elegant edge painting also imparts a neat, uniform appearance. Thanks to our multiple layers of edge painting, these watch cases have been crafted to be as durable as possible without negatively impacting functionality.
