Two-Tone Knit Tie in Brown and Beige Changeant Silk

Neckties are one of the most valuable, versatile, and varied accessories in Classic Menswear. At Fort Belvedere, we proudly offer a wide range of products to suit every formality,
occasion, and personal style.

Made from the finest silks and wool sourced from Italy and England, these ties are a fantastic value that will help your entire wardrobe go further. We are also one of the few retailers to offer our 3-fold neckties in three different sizes, either tipped or untipped, so you can find the necktie that works perfectly with your height and preferred trouser rise.

Knit Ties

Knit ties were popular throughout the Golden Age of Menswear as a distinctive, visually interesting example of neckwear. Most of these ties were offered in skinny widths and came in two common varieties. Soft knit ties are made from flexible, smooth fabric and have a looser drape. They are usually made from wool or plush silk.

Knit ties with a stiffer feel that is sometimes called “crunchy” are made from cri de la soie, or “cry of the silk,” so named because of the unique sound that this fabric makes when rubbed against
itself. Fort Belvedere has sourced only the finest silk for these ties. We're proud to offer a classic, casual knit tie that is produced using traditional methods that we know will be a versatile addition to your wardrobe!

Also referred to as shot silk, changeant silk is a beautiful fabric that is woven from silk warp and weft yarns of multiple colors. This layering of several colors produces a shimmering, iridescent effect that truly has to be seen to be believed.

What makes this neck tie special?

Old-World Swiss Silk Yarn. To create this one-of-a-kind tie, we needed one-of-a-kind yarn. We found exactly what we were looking for in a little silk mill in the Swiss Alps, where our silk yarn is custom spun and dyed for a look you won’t find anywhere else.

Heritage Knitting Machines. The silk yarn for Fort Belvedere’s knit ties was made on a heritage knitting machine that is over 70 years old and represents the apex of Old World craftsmanship.

Flat Knitted. Most other knit ties are round-knitted, but the yarns for our knit ties are flat-knitted in a painstaking process that requires the workmanship of skilled artisans, but that also produces a superior tie.

Hand-Finished. Once the knitting process is complete, our knit ties are carefully sewn by hand down the center seam for an elegant drape and improved longevity. Shaped on Wooden Molds. To achieve the perfect shape, our knit ties are individually applied
to wooden molds and then set for several days. This traditional method imparts the ideal form to our ties.

Attentive Oversight. From the moment that our knit ties are first spun until the tops and bottoms are sewn shut and the labels are attached, quality inspectors ensure that every article is made according to the exacting standards of the Fort Belvedere name.

Size

Almost all retailers sell their ties as one-size-fits-all. A handful offer neckties that are either longer or shorter. At Fort Belvedere, we cater to the needs of every man, whether of modest, average, or above-average height, which is why we are proud to offer neckties in three distinct sizes.

The dimensions of our neckties are proportional to your height. The following chart will guide you as to which of our necktie lengths is right for you.

SHORT: For those who are 5’8” or 173 cm or shorter.
REGULAR: For those who are around 5’11 or 180 cm tall.
LONG: For those who are 6’3” or 190 cm or taller.

Please note that if you prefer to wear trousers with a higher rise and are in-between sizes, it may be better to size down so that the necktie does not fall below your waistband when tied.

A note on the dimensions of your silk knit tie

Please be aware that because this tie was knitted flat and shaped on a wooden mold, a small amount of size contraction takes place immediately after the tie is removed from the mold. As the fabric relaxes over time, the width and length of the tie will increase slightly. Keep in mind that as a handmade product, all stated dimensions are approximate and actual dimensions will vary slightly.

How to store this tie

To prevent heavy creasing, never store your neckwear tied or knotted. Undo the knot and then roll the necktie up in a firm but not excessively tight coil. Allow it to sit in the coil for about a day
to relax wrinkles. To prevent stretching, knit ties should be stored rolled or flat. All other ties may be stored hanging up if desired.

Signature Green Gift Box.
Your necktie will arrive in one of our luxurious Fort Belvedere gift boxes. Featuring sturdy magnetic closures, this box comes in our iconic shade of forest green and displays the Fort Belvedere crest on the lid. While many gentlemen retain the box as the perfect way to store their ties, it is also suitable as a superlative presentation gift box.
