Golden Brown Slim Cardholder Wallet with Cash Pocket in Full-Grain Togo Leather

Although we live in a highly digitized world, a wallet is still an essential everyday item and the easiest way to carry cash and cards. And on those occasions when you don’t want to carry a full-sized bifold or coat wallet, or if you are a minimalist who prefers to travel as lightly as possible, you don’t need to sacrifice the convenience of your wallet. Fort Belvedere is proud to offer this elegant slim wallet card carrier for those moments when you only want the essentials.

For minimalists who prefer to carry only the bare essentials, this card carrier functions like a compact wallet. With its four cardholders, it can safely and conveniently stow all of your essential cards. The additional central open slot can also be used to temporarily store another card, paper currency, ticket stubs, receipts, and similar ephemera.

When designing this Togo card carrier we wanted to create a slim wallet that could securely stow all of our essentials without affecting the drape of our clothes. Every aspect of construction, from the careful skiving of connected sections to reduce bulk to the exact material used for the body and backing, have been carefully selected in order to produce the thinnest and slimmest profile without compromising on functionality or durability.

With four dedicated card slots and one central open slot, you can easily hold four cards, ephemera like two tickets, and four folded bills without adding meaningful bulk. Even if you “double stack” the cards, this card carrier is designed to appear almost invisible within the beautiful drape of your trousers or your jacket.

Please be aware that if you choose to double stack your cards, the leather will naturally stretch if the slot is double stacked for an extended period, meaning that it may become too loose to securely hold just a single card. This issue is easily resolved by simply keeping two cards in any slot that has conformed to hold two cards, and it will have a minimal impact on the overall profile of the card carrier.

1. Quality Leather: The uncorrected full-grain leather used in this card carrier comes exclusively from calves allowed to graze only in the lofty pastures of the Alps.

Why does that matter? 

In the colder conditions of the Alps, there are fewer insects; fewer insects mean fewer insect bites, which mar the leather and create blemishes. Furthermore, because calves are smaller than cows and bulls, their hides cost more, but the unique qualities of calfskin, especially its durability while remaining soft, make it worth it.  

a. Artisanal Tannery: These hides were tanned and prepared by a heritage German tannery that has been in operation for centuries. This prestigious tannery is dedicated to producing only the finest open-pored leathers in the noble tradition of German craftsmanship, and as such it also offers leathers to many high-end and luxury fashion houses, in addition to supplying leathers to Fort Belvedere.

b. All-Natural Shrunken Calf Pebbled Surface: The pebbled surfaces on most leather goods are artificially embossed which creates a uniform look. That is certainly not the case here: the pebbled or grain effect of our Togo leather is achieved by naturally shrinking the leather. As a result, the surface is drawn closer together, emphasizing the grain and making it deeper and more visible. 

Because leather is a natural material, no pebble pattern is exactly alike. Even on the same skin the size of the pebbles varies, leaving you with a true one of a kind item.

This shrinking also makes the leather subtly thicker and therefore more durable without compromising on its softness and flexibility. Each piece of leather has been carefully selected to perfectly showcase the startling effect of this beautiful deep pebbled grain.

c. Dry Hand & Scratch Resistance: Unlike our other bullhide leathers, this calf leather was designed with scratch resistant properties. If you do not like the scratches and scuffs on an open pore leather, this Togo leather is for you. Normal everyday wear or scuffing will not change the look or appearance of the leather. 

This leather also has a dry hand and improved water resistance, although without being waterproof. True open-pore semi- aniline leather will always be water permeable. Lower quality leathers often feature an artificial top-coat that makes the leather waterproof, but it also makes it non-breathable. With the Togo leather you get improved resistance but still an open–pore leather.

d. Elegant Golden Brown Dye: This card carrier has been dyed an elegant golden brown. Thanks to our semi-aniline-dyeing process, the dye has been fully absorbed into the leather, ensuring a long-lasting color that won’t fade. A refined but versatile color, golden brown can harmonize with both casual and formal ensembles.

2. Ultra-slim Profile: By skiving each piece of leather at the seams and carefully assembling every layer, this wallet offers the longevity of full-leather construction with no additional bulk. Even when fully loaded with a card in each slot, this wallet is practically invisible when placed within a jacket or trouser pocket, allowing you to carry your essentials without altering the beautiful drape of your clothing.

3. Proudly Made in the European Union: With a history of craftsmanship, stringent quality, environmental, and fair labor laws, and access to a massive pool of talented workers, many of the finest menswear goods are made in the European Union. This golden brown Togo leather slim wallet has been carefully constructed by artisans who have studied and practiced their trades for years.

4. Thinned Folded Edges: Folded edges are essential for ensuring the durability of leather goods. But most wallets are made with edges that are cut and then painted or burnished. With wear, this edge dressing deteriorates over time and cracks. At Fort Belvedere, the edges of our card carriers are meticulously thinned down at an angle before being folded and sewn together. This not only produces a uniform edge thickness, but it also greatly reduces the wear on the edges of the carrier. As a result, our folded-edges typically last twice as long as edges that are just edge-painted or burnished. 

5. Smoothed Corner Radius: To emphasize its strong rectangular lines, the corners have not been fully rounded on this card carrier. However, a precise radius was chosen to minimize the potential for wear or snagging. As a result, our carrier can easily slide in and out of your pocket and it also makes less of an impression on the fabric, another reason that this card carrier is practically invisible.

6. Elegant Contrast Stitching: Our cream thread provides a subtle pop of color against the golden brown of this card carrier. Not only does this create visual interest, it highlights the piece’s incredible workmanship: every neat and fine back-and-forth stitch is on full display. The workmanship is even more impressive when you realize that the artisans can only see one side when they stitch those wallets, so it requires extra care and skill to sew these together.

7. Horizontal & Vertical Design: Most slim wallets either have horizontal slots or vertical slots on both sides, as it is easier to manufacture it that way. Our design was led by usability, and so we decided to have one side be vertical and the other horizontal. 

What’s the advantage?

Most people use one or two cards most frequently. So if you put your credit card on the horizontal slot with a cutout and your driver’s license on the vertical slot with the cutout, you can reach into your pocket and intuitively feel which card is the credit card and which one is the license. This convenience affords you very quick access to the card you want, even when it is absolutely dark outside. We also appreciate that it makes the overall design of the carrier more unique and unexpected.

8. Four Card Slots hold up to Eight cards: The dedicated slots of this card carrier were designed to hold four cards, but each slot can hold an additional card if desired. Be aware that the leather of that slot will conform to hold two cards and will become too loose to securely hold a single card if “double stacked” for a few days.  

a. Folded Edges on Card Slots: Unlike most wallets, which feature cardholders that have simply been cut into the leather, these cardholders have been fastidiously constructed, securely sewn into the leather, and held in position by the durable backing; even the edges of the pockets are folded. Secure stitching means that your cards are held tightly in place, even after years of use, but with sufficient give to allow each card to slip out. To ensure simple ease of access, two cardholders, one on each side of the carrier, feature cut-outs that allow you to quickly slip out the cards you most often use.

b. Cut Thumb-Push Cut-Outs: Please note that the edges around the thumb-push cut-outs have cut edges with edge dressing and are not folded. 

Why not? 

Every time a card is put into that slot, it would push against the folded edge and damage it, so in this section we opted for a cut and painted edge. Note that the cut-outs have been carefully positioned to avoid external damage and they will not negatively affect the overall durability of the carrier.

9. Secure Central Open Pocket: Sandwiched between the layers of the card carrier is a fully lined central open pocket. This central open pocket can be used for the temporary storage of cash, receipts, ticket stubs, and perhaps a hastily-scrawled telephone number. Please be aware that the more cards you store in the wallet, the more compressed and difficult to access the central slot will become. 

10. Quality Backing and Lining for Slimness and Ease of Use: The leather panels of this card carrier have been secured with a viscose fabric backing and lining made in Italy that has been specially selected to function as the ideal complement to our chosen leather.

Why fabric and not all leather?

While we tested an all-leather variety, it proved too bulky, especially when considering that the Togo leather cannot be split as thinly as smooth leathers because of its deep valley grain structure. The viscose fabric, however, allows for unparalleled slimness without compromising durability.   

In addition to its slimness and ensuring structural stability that contributes to better longevity, this special fabric also facilitates the smooth removal of cards from their pockets thanks to its slippery surface. This material was also specifically chosen to not degrade the leather, allowing for the thinnest possible leather slim wallet.    

This viscose fabric has also been treated so that it does not fray when being cut, ensuring superior endurance and a neat, beautiful appearance at the seams with no tattered edges. We specifically selected adhesives that ensure a strong bonding to the leather to further improve durability and a clean look.

11. Tastefully Embossed: The name and elegant crest of Fort Belvedere appear on the horizontal side of the card carrier, discreetly identifying the maker of this fine product in a refined and unobtrusive way.

12. Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) Blocking: To protect you in an ever-changing world, the exterior of this card carrier has been specially treated to block RFID signals that could be used to access your cards and steal your money or information. This treatment has been carefully applied between the leather and the moire on the outside layer so that it does not adversely affect the appearance or hand of the leather. 

13. Spared No Expense: With our additional leather inner layer, this card carrier has about twice the leather of our competitors. 

The size was also carefully chosen to fit elegantly in your hand with reduced bulk: while others select their product sizes based on dimensions to maximize the yield from standard hide sides, our dimensions are determined only by what works best for you.

14. Extensively Tested: We subjected this card carrier to over a year of extensive field testing and accelerated stress testing: every issue and fault has been identified through hands-on experimentation by our team and fully resolved.
