Most significantly, nearly all other pocket squares are too small because they are simply cut to get the biggest yield from the piece of fabric it is made off. At Fort Belvedere we determine the
size of each square by the specific fabric used so you end up with the perfectly sized pocket square that will neither disappear in your chest pocket nor create any bulk.

A pocket square cannot improve your look if it vanishes into your pocket or spoils the lines of your jacket, after all!

To highlight the x-detailing on this pocket square, it should be worn with a fold that emphasizes the edges of the accessory, such as a banker’s fold or a crown fold. To showcase the color of
the body of the pocket square instead, a puff fold should be employed.

Pure Italian Linen. Linen is a decadent and functional fabric that has been employed in menswear for millennia. Fort Belvedere sources linen from two mills, one in Ireland and one in
Italy. Irish linen is known for its excellent structure and solid drape, while Italian linen is generally softer and has a finer hand. All Fort Belvedere linen, however, is sufficiently crisp to hold folds
well and not collapse down into your pocket.

Ideal Linen Weave. After thoroughly testing every available type of linen weave, from coarse-woven to fine double-damask, we settled on this weave because it is ideally suited for
pocket squares, possessing an elegant drape that does not add unsightly bulk.

Perfectly Sized for Linen. Most pocket squares are sized to get the largest number of pocket squares per yard of fabric. By not considering the unique qualities of the material as related to weight and weave, however, these accessories cannot function well as pocket squares.

Most linen squares are 43 cm x 43cm, or 17" x 17," in size. While they may work as handkerchiefs in the back pocket of your trousers, they are too big for the chest pocket and make the pockets appear overstuffed and bulky. The second most popular
commercial size for linen pocket squares, 33 cm x 33 cm, or 13" x 13," is too small, allowing the pocket square to fall in on itself and disappear into your pocket over the course of the day.

By paying particular attention to the unique qualities of our linen, we were able to engineer a pocket square that functions perfectly. After extensive testing, we concluded that 35cm x 35 cm
or 13.75" x" 13.75" was the perfect size for our Italian linen pocket squares.

Elegantly Embroidered Initial. As a personal statement piece, many Classic Gentlemen would have their initials embroidered on their pocket squares. In this offering from Fort Belvedere, the initial is spectacularly hand-embroidered with an extremely high stitch density, resulting in a slightly raised profile that is noticeable but understated. The initial is placed in the corner so that it can be visible if desired, for instance, as part of the pinnacle of a crown fold, but it can also be folded to hide the initial from the display. The choice is yours.
