This square isn’t only awesome in color, it feels elegant to the touch. It took only a few days to arrive in the mail. It came in a fancy, green box. And I receive multiple compliments every time I wear it. Goes great with my blue and grey suits, and all my other odd jackets. Definitely going to be buying more pocket squares from the gentleman’s gazette

  • Soft, Wrinkle-Free Blend of 70% Silk and 30% Wool
  • Fabric Made in England
  • Design Hand Printed by English Heritage Artisans

  • Three Versatile Way to Style It

How to Style this Pocket Square

This pocket square features on its body a colorful Egyptian Revival motif and linear edge detailing. As such, it can effectively be styled in three different ways depending on your chosen pocket square fold. A fold that emphasizes the border of the pocket square, like a banker's fold, will present a band of color and the tonal shoestring edge. A fold that highlights the body of the pocket square, such as a puff fold, puts the unique scarab and lotus flower motif on full display. Finally, a fold that incorporates both elements of the pocket square, like the Upside-Down Puff, showcases both elements for a very dapper look.

A Pocket Square for the Discerning Stylist

The cerulean blue pocket square, emblazoned with an Art Deco Egyptian scarab pattern in burnt orange, magenta, and black, offers a refreshing sartorial escape.

The vibrant cerulean blue base of the pocket square serves as the perfect backdrop for the intricate scarab design, reminiscent of the opulent aesthetics from the Roaring Twenties. This eye-catching accessory not only pays homage to the historical significance of the scarab but also infuses your wardrobe with a splash of color and personality.

Pair this pocket square with a lightweight seersucker suit in light blue or cream. The cool tones will complement the cerulean blue base, while the burnt orange and magenta scarabs add a touch of playful energy. Maintain a crisp foundation with a white linen shirt.

For a harmonious look, consider matching this pocket square with accessories that echo its accent colors—burnt orange or magenta—to draw attention to the exquisite detailing.

Storage

Although popularly considered a delicate material, silk and silk-wool blends are a very strong fiber that resists wrinkling. However, if left folded up for hours or days, creasing and wrinkles will eventually set in.

To prevent creasing and wrinkling, remove your pocket square when undressing and fold it into a square before storing it in a cool, dark area, like a drawer or cabinet, to protect it from sunlight and dust.

Pressing

If heavily crumpled, you should first attempt to use a garment steamer on a low setting to relax the wrinkles.

If the wrinkles persist, place a cotton cloth on top of your pocket square and then iron on top of it around the center, using the delicate setting.

Do not run the iron over the edges of the pocket square as this will damage the hand-rolled edges.

Cleaning

If your pocket square should become stained or dirty, do not wash it by immersing it in water. Instead, create a solution of tepid water and mild detergent and spot clean the pocket square with a clean cloth as needed.

If the stain persists, take your pocket square to a reputable dry cleaner that specializes in the handling of delicate fabrics.

The Perfect Blend of Silk and Wool

This pocket square is made from a blend of silk and wool, combining the color intensity and subtle shine of the former with the durability and structure of the latter. The result is a pocket square with an impeccable appearance that can be easily paired with many other fabrics.

It should be noted that printed silk-wool pocket squares are not as commonly found as silk pocket squares because it is difficult to create the perfect blend for the chest pocket. While most pocket squares are now printed in China on inkjet printers, Fort Belvedere silk-wool pocket squares are screen-printed by hand in England before being meticulously hand rolled.

Less shiny than pure silk examples, silk-wool pocket squares have a beautiful hand and drape to them that makes them especially compatible with casual sport coat combinations, as well as all kinds of tweed and country wear. However, you can also combine them with business suits in gray or blue for an understated, sophisticated look.

Unlike pure silk, linen, or cotton, this silk-wool blend is very springy, allowing it to easily retain its shape while resisting wrinkles. If you decide to switch from a puff fold to a crown fold, you will not need to worry about this pocket square acquiring unsightly wrinkles.

Details & Specs

  • Exotic Egyptian Revival-Inspired Pattern

The unique pattern on this pocket square, featuring scarab and lotus flower elements, is inspired by the Egyptian Revival craze that swept Europe in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. You might assume that this pattern is derived from the Art Deco Movement, but it actually predates that genre by several years. This pocket square design is actually inspired by the Egyptian Rooms of the Museum of Art History in Vienna, Austria. These rooms, including their ceiling, were decorated with an Egyptian-inspired pattern designed by Carl von Hasenauer and realized by Atelier Falkenstein in 1889.

  • Perfect Blend of 70% Silk and 30% Wool

The blend of silk and wool selected for this pocket square was specifically chosen to ensure the perfect elegant sheen from the silk with the additional of improved structure from the wool for the perfect drape. The result? An incredible pocket square with a gorgeous pattern and the ability to hold any pocket square fold beautifully.

  • Ideal Proportions for a Silk-Wool Blend Pocket Square

Most pocket squares are sized to get the largest number of pocket squares per yard of fabric. By not considering the unique qualities of the material as related to weight and weave, however, these accessories cannot function well as pocket squares.

Most silk-wool pocket squares are a minuscule 30 cm x 30 cm, or 12" x 12,” a size selected only to save money. This size is simply too small, allowing the pocket square to fall in on itself and disappear into your pocket over the course of the day. By paying special attention to the unique qualities of our silk-wool, we were able to engineer a pocket square that functions perfectly. After extensive testing, we concluded that 42 cm x 42 cm or 16.5" x" 16.5" was the perfect size for our silk-wool pocket squares.

  • Heavy Weight Silk for Improved Drape

The weight and weave of the fabric dictate its quality and function, and this unique pocket square has been woven with a heavier-weight fabric to ensure the perfect drape without compromising its soft feel. As a result, it will sit neatly in the breast pocket without collapsing and vanishing.

  • Stunning Hand-Printed Colors

When printing pocket squares, it is necessary to reprint the entire pocket as many times as there are colors, adding each color as a distinct layer with each printing. Obviously, multiple printings allow for the possibility of errors or mistakes, necessitating exacting quality assurance standards. The result, however, is a hand-printed pocket square with beautiful and versatile colorways that will ensure that you stand out from the crowd. Only a handful of modern silk printers possess the skills needed to operate traditional silk screens and Fort Belvedere sources its fabric from a heritage English company that produces only the highest quality printed fabrics.

  • Meticulously Hand-Rolled Edges

Although an expensive and time-consuming process, the edges of this Fort Belvedere pocket squares have been rolled by hand to ensure a neat and sophisticated look, in contrast to machine-made edges that are obviously so flat and regimented that they appear cheap. This edge treatment also improves the durability and longevity of the pocket square as it reinforces the areas of most regular wear and tear.

  • Three-in-One Styling Options

Because this pocket square has two discreet patterns, it offers three unique styling options based on the utilized fold: you can display all of one section or the other in a shell or banker’s square fold or a combination of both with an inverted fold-like the upside-down puff fold. The result? A single pocket square that can be styled like three different pocket squares.
