The George belt buckle is sold individually, and you can pair it with any Fort Belvedere belt to build a great collection of variable belts.

Not only can you choose a unique buckle that matches the metal of your cufflinks, tie bar, or ring but you can also match or coordinate the leather color with your shoes and leather accessories, so you look the part. Traditionally, quality belts have come in fixed sizes and exchangeable buckles made of cheap alloys like zamac were usually something reserved for the lower end market.
At Fort Belvedere, we wanted the highest quality belt we could find paired with the flexibility of an interchangeable belt system, so the investment you make in your accessories allow you to create exactly the look you want, without sacrificing the quality, feel and looks of the highest quality belt on the market today.
What makes this George belt buckle by Fort Belvedere so special?
1. Handmade by a Master Bucklemaker in Italy. Just like with a suit there is a huge difference if you get your hardware made in a Chinese factory or by a skilled craftsman in Europe. Weighing in at around 50 grams you can tell this piece is quality the second you hold it in your hands. We design it so you can get a lifetime of use out of it and when you hand it down to your children, it will have developed a rich patina but will still work beautifully.
2. Clip-on-off lever system. The hallmark of Fort Belvedere belt buckles is undoubtedly the smart clip-on system. A solid brass lever allows you to easily clip in any Fort Belvedere belt, or any other belt you may have for that matter that is 29mm wide, into the buckle, The three teeth on the one side guarantee it stays securely in place until you open it up, so you can use the buckle with a different belt. No tools or excessive force necessary. You can clip in and release the belt in 3 seconds using just your hands.
3. Solid Brass. 99% of all belt buckles today are made of zamac, an alloy of Zinc, Aluminum, Magnesium and Copper. The main reason is that it doesn't cost much but it has a very distinctive lightweight feel. Traditionally, quality belt buckles were made of either solid brass, sterling silver of gold. With today's silver and gold prices being so high, it has become prohibitively expensive to use those metals for belt buckles. On top of that, brass is harder than both gold and sterling silver and it is more durable and scratch-resistant. Because of that, all Fort Belvedere buckles are crafted of solid brass, and then we plate them heavily, so you get the look of gold and platinum but the performance of a solid brass buckle at a price that is still affordable.
4. Thick Gold Plating with 1+ microns. Most belt buckles on the market don't use actual gold or precious metals such as palladium in their plating process. Even if they do, it is typically rather thin as buckles have a relatively large surface area and precious metals like gold are expensive. The problem is that most of that plating will rub off over time. At Fort Belvedere, we wanted to create a plating that was at least 10 times thicker than what you can generally find on the market so you don't have to worry about the plating rubbing off. So because of that we chose a very resistant gold alloy that is meant to stand the test of time.
5. Hypoallergenic & Nickel-Free. Most gold or platinum platings on the market contain nickel. At Fort Belvedere we only provide the highest quality items, which means all of our metal goods are nickel-free and hypoallergenic. So even if you have issues with nickel in other belt buckles of jewelry, you can confidently use our buckles because they are 100% nickel-free.
6. Belt System. In general quality, belts come with an attached buckle so if you want something in silver and gold, you have to get a belt with different colored hardware. If you want to wear different buckles, you once again have to buy different belts. Also if you lose weight for good, all of your belts are now too big and so you have to get rid of them or punch in an extra hole, which does never look as nice as the factory holes, and the edges won't be as smooth.
