Pocket squares are probably the easiest and quickest way to upgrade your look. Once you have mastered the plain white linen pocket square, and the squares with colored edges, the next step is to add different materials and textures to your chest pocket.
Real ancient madder silk is famed for its rich colors and sophisticated look. It's very rare to find true dye and discharge Real Ancient Madder Silk printed squares but we sourced them in England.
1. Perfect Size. Most pocket squares are sized to get the largest number of pocket squares per yard of fabric. Unfortunately, this doesn't result in pocket squares with the right size, especially because every fabric has a different weight and weave.
Most silk pocket squares 30 cm x 30 cm - 12" x 12" in size, which is too small. Because of the smooth surface of silk, your square will disappear in your pocket, and that is just sad, after all why would you wear a pocket square if it is not visible?
After extensive testing, we concluded that 40 cm x 40 cm - 15.5" x" 15.5" was the perfect size for these particular Madder silk pocket squares.
2. Meticulously hand-rolled. Just like all Fort Belvedere pocket square these squares are hand-rolled, because only handkerchiefs with fine hand-rolled edges look sophisticated, whereas machine-made ones are the epitome of a cheap look.
3. Real Ancient Madder. Only a few silk printers are capable of producing madder silks anymore. Fort Belvedere sources its fabric from England, the home of Real Ancient Madder.
Due to its complicated dye and discharge process, this silk costs about 6 times a much as other printed silks!
4. Chalky feel. Madder ties feature a distinctive chalky feel, which is achieved by adding the formerly stripped natural gum back to the silk. This complicated process results in a beautiful, rare fabric which makes you look particularly debonair:
The brown tone of this pocket square is darker than the one here. I pair well with any kind of brown, navy, or shade of blue as well as grey and charcoal. It looks particularly dapper when paired with bottle green, wine red or burgundy accessories such as knit ties.
It's a pocket square color you will not find in many other places, yet every sophisticated gentleman has a few bronze tones in his wardrobe.
This pocket square comes to you in a luxurious, high-quality Fort Belvedere gift box with magnet closure. Many customers keep it for storage but it also makes for a great gift presentation.
Although many consider silk to be very delicate, it is, in fact, a very strong fiber that rather wrinkles resistant. However, if you leave your square folded in a pocket for days, it will show wrinkles. Hence, we recommend, you take it out of your pocket at the end of the day, fold it into a square and let it rest in a drawer that protects it from dust or sunlight. In case your pochette is wrinkled, use some steam and if that doesn't help, put a cotton cloth between the silk and your iron. Gently steam iron the center of the square, without flattening the edges. Within seconds, the wrinkles should disappear.
